What kind of church
is this?
We strive to be a welcoming, open, embracing, and loving community.
When asked if we are liberal or conservative, the honest answer is,
"yes" and we love that diversity. We walk together in celebration
of one another's gifts and truly desire to build up, equip, and energize
all who attend in the grand celebration of the gifts and lessons of
Jesus Christ. We welcome people from all or no religious
traditions. We welcome those with no education and with lots of
education. We welcome parents with young children, and single
adults. Come and See who we are, and help us to become more and
more into the living Body of Christ. Each week we gather to read
Scripture from the Old and New Testament, sing hymns, profess our faith,
and to gather strength for returning to our day to day lives. Our Pastors, Pr. David and
Pr. Amanda, love hearing questions about faith and will be happy to
speak with you.
What kind of morning service
do you have?
At Ascension we worship in a liturgical fashion, which means we
follow a set pattern for our worship order. Everything that is
needed to participate in the service is printed in the bulletin handed
out as you enter the sanctuary, including the music. If you join
us for our contemporary service, everything you need will be projected
on the screens.
In our traditional 9:30
AM service, we use four different
settings (musical patterns) of the liturgy including Setting Two found
in the Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW), and Marty Haugen's Now the
Feast and Celebration as well as The Tree of Life.
Setting Two is more traditional and is used on the second Sunday of each
month.
Haugen's music is more contemporary and is used on communion Sundays.
We also create unique liturgical settings from a
compilation of various resources on the 4th Sunday of each month.
Our Monthly Worship
Schedule:
1st Sunday of the Month: Communion; Now the Feast & Celebration
Setting
2nd Sunday of the Month: Non-Communion; LBW Setting 2
3rd Sunday of the Month: Communion; Tree of Life Setting
4th Sunday of the Month: Non-Communion; Compilation Service
5th Sunday of the Month: Communion; Tree of Life Setting
How many services do
you have?
We have two services for your participation. Our first service
is at 9:30 AM and is our traditional blended service described above.
Our second service, called The Water's Edge, begins at 12 noon
and is a contemporary service.
May I take Communion?
Here at Ascension we welcome all people to Christ's table regardless
of age or denominational affiliation. As a part of the whole Christian
family, the Lutheran understanding of communion is that, as the gathered
congregation, and through the elements of bread and wine, we experience
the real presence of Christ among us. Communion is a sign of God's
love, care, and constant concern for all people. It is a sign of
mercy and forgiveness. It is a sign that we all belong together
because we are sons and daughters of a loving God. Know that you
are welcome to come forward as you are comfortable.
Is there child care
available?
Yes! We offer supervised child care during all of our services in
our nursery. Please feel free to ask directions to find the
room when visiting!
What kind of Sunday
School activities do you offer?
Lots! Please
